 Visit Dambulla Cave Temple

Dambulla cave temple was established in about 1st Century BC. Since Indian invaders our kingdom Anuradhapura was abandon by our king Walagamba at that moment. He wasn't had courage to fight against them. For about 12 years he was fighting against them while changing locations where he was living. Dambulla was one of a place he was and monks in this monastery were helped him. After the restoration of Anuradhapura kingdom, King Walagamba decided to build a temple here. 

There are 5 caves can visit and about 154 statues of buddha and 4 statues of kings. On the rock wall have many paintings about buddha's life story. But all these wasn't make by king walagamba. He have taken the start. But all historical information wasn't prove how much or how many he has done.
